Microneedling has gained significant traction recently as a powerful, non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. At Studio 8 Beauty, we’re excited to introduce the advanced IMEDPen Microneedling Treatment, combined with the knowledge & skills of Lisa Young, a highly experienced VTCT Level 6 qualified practitioner delivering mesotherapy treatments such as microneedling and traditional mesotherapy techniques. This cutting-edge treatment combines quality, precision, and expertise to help you achieve radiant, youthful skin.

In this post, we explore the microneedling procedure, its advantages over traditional derma roller microneedling, and why it’s the ultimate choice for your skincare journey.

What is Microneedling ?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure stimulating the skin’s natural healing process. It involves using fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which triggers collagen and elastin production. When combined with beneficial treatment cocktails and serums, this enhances the treatment further. Collagen and elastin improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity, addressing a variety of concerns, such as:

    • Fine lines and wrinkles
    • Skin laxity
    • Acne scars
    • Enlarged pores
    • Hyperpigmentation
    • Uneven skin tone
    • Stretch marks

While traditional microneedling methods like dermarollers have been widely used, technological advancements have led to the development of digital microneedling pens, such as the IMEDPen.

When Digital pen microneedling is combined with quality products and beneficial ingredients, you can expect even more outstanding results from your treatment. At Studio 8 Beauty, we work with a range of products and ingredients such as polynucleotides, hyaluronic acid, amino-peptides, hexapeptides, exosomes, vitamins and anti-oxidants in products such as Derma 2.0, Imedpen & Toskani.

What is microneedling good for ?

Microneedling is great for a variety of skin conditions, such as:

    • General skin health
    • Skin Ageing
    • Rosacea prone skin
    • Acne & problem skin
    • Pigmentation
    • Scars

Introducing the IMEDPen Microneedling Treatment

The IMEDPen is a state-of-the-art digital microneedling device that elevates the treatment experience. Unlike traditional derma rollers, which use a rolling motion to create micro-injuries and can snag the skin, the IMEDPen employs a precise vertical stamping technique as it glides across the skin. This innovative design ensures controlled, consistent results with minimal discomfort.

Under the skilled hands of Lisa, our VTCT Level 6 qualified practitioner, the IMEDPen treatment is tailored to your unique skin needs. Lisa’s expertise ensures that each session is safe and highly effective, delivering visible improvements in your skin’s health and appearance.

Benefits of Digital Pen Microneedling vs. Dermaroller Microneedling

Precision and Customisation

The digital pen, such as the IMEDPen, offers adjustable needle depth and speed, allowing Lisa to customise the treatment for different areas of your face and specific skin concerns. With a dermaroller, the fixed needle length of a dermaroller may not provide the same level of flexibility and personalisation, potentially causing uneven results.

Less Discomfort, More Comfort

The IMEDPen vertical motion reduces the risk of skin dragging or tearing, making the procedure more comfortable and suitable for sensitive skin; however, the rolling action of a dermaroller can create uneven pressure and minor tearing, which may result in discomfort or prolonged recovery.

Superior Results

The precision of the IMEDPen ensures better penetration of serums and skin care products, enhancing their effectiveness. In contrast, while effective, derma rollers lack the refined control of a digital device, which can limit the overall outcome.

Hygiene and Safety

The disposable needle cartridges used with the IMEDPen ensure a sterile environment for each session, significantly reducing the risk of infection.

Minimal Downtime

A digital microneedling pen provides a more controlled, precise action that minimises post-treatment redness and swelling, allowing faster recovery. However, the rolling technique of a dermaroller can cause more widespread irritation, potentially leading to longer downtime.

Most clients notice an immediate improvement in their skin’s texture, with full results visible after a few weeks. A series of sessions is usually recommended for progressive and long-lasting benefits, but microneedling can be carried out as a single treatment without commitment to a course, such as for a special occasion or to experience the treatment before committing to a course of treatments.

Microneedling FAQ’s

Is microneedling painful?

Most clients find the procedure comfortable.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatments typically last between 40-60 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

How many sessions will I need?

While results are noticeable after one session, 3-6 treatments are often recommended for optimal results.

Is there any downtime?

You may experience mild redness and sensitivity for 24-48 hours, but most clients resume their normal activities quickly but should not apply make-up or exercise for 24 hours. We recommend booking your treatment when you do not have social engagements or planned exercise, which is discussed during a pre-treatment consultation.

Do I need a consultation?

Whilst microneedling is suitable for most people, a consultation is required at least 48 hours before having a treatment to discuss your treatment needs & expectations, preparation and aftercare.
